Wellbeing and family Support
My name is Mrs Deeson and I am the school well being lead and Family Liaison Officer (FLO).
My role is to support you and your children, offering pastoral care and enhancing the wellbeing of your whole family.
I am part of the Academy Wellbeing Team and liaise closely with all the FLOs across the other schools and Mrs Wickham (Senco), combining our expertise and resources to enable the children’s wellbeing, happiness and progress.
Within school, I work closely with Mrs Baker and all the school staff. I work impartially and confidentially to provide a link between you and the school, always in the best interests of you and your family. So what can I help you with? School issue or personal concern, big or small, I’m here to help. I can offer practical help or advice, signpost to external agencies if appropriate, or just be here to listen if you want someone to talk to.
I also support your children during the school day, to ensure that they are happy and feel safe and secure in school. For those who need a bit of extra help, I run individual or group sessions to enable them find solutions to any problems. This may be self-esteem, behaviour, friendships, playground worries, anything that might be affecting how they feel about their day.
I am an accredited Kent Wellbeing Champion and am trained in Counselling Skills for Children, Drawing and Talking, Emotional Regulation, Friendship Skills, Sand Therapy and Lego Therapy, all interventions that can help your child work through whatever they are feeling and find some solutions.
I also run a lunchtime club for any child who needs to take time out from the school day and come and play or draw, or just have a chat. All of this promotes a sense of positive wellbeing and will hopefully enable them to settle in the classroom and learn effectively.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything you feel that I can help with. I am in school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Please contact me on 07762 118527 or R.Deeson@villageacademy.co.uk.
