Uniform

We encourage the children to take a pride in their appearance and require all children to wear school uniform, which is:

Winter uniform 

Boys:

• Grey or black trousers 
• White polo top (logo or un-logo) or White shirt and tie** 
• Red jumper/fleece/sweatshirt* 
• Black/grey socks

Girls:

• Grey or black watch tartan skirt, grey skirt/grey pinafore or grey trousers 
• White polo top (logo or un-logo) or White blouse and tie** 
• Red cardigan/ jumper/fleece/sweatshirt*
• White, grey, red or black tights

Summer uniform 

Boys:

• Grey shorts 
• Red or white polo shirt 
• Red jumper/fleece/sweatshirt*
• Black or grey socks

Girls:

• Red checked or striped dress
• Grey shorts 
• Red or white polo shirt
• Red cardigan/ fleece/sweatshirt*
• White socks

Shoes  

Children are asked to have three pairs of shoes for school:

Pair 1: sensible black school shoes in the winter and sensible closed toe sandals in the summer (with socks)

Pair 2: sensible outdoor trainers.

Pair 3: wellies

Children can be asked to change into trainers or wellies at playtimes.  In bad weather they can also wear trainers or wellies into school and change into school shoes when they get to school.

Outdoor learning equipment

All year groups will regularly have learning outdoors.  Waterproof clothing including full length trousers are needed in the wet and wintry weather. Wellies are also required.  Before buying anything like this these please speak to your child's teacher about the best time to provide them.

School equipment

Children are given a school water bottle when they start at Milstead school and are asked to bring this into school every day and take it home again every evening.  You can purchase replacement bottles from the office at a cost £1.50 or provide your own bottle.  The children can fill their bottles at school each day and will have access to drink them throughout the day.  If you send the bottle ready filled, please ensure this is water only and not squash or juice.

School book bags are given to all children starting in Year R.  Children can bring school book bags* to carry their reading book and any necessary personal items such as glasses.  We supply all stationery so pencil cases are not needed. If you choose not to buy a book bag, please only buy small bags as storage space is limited and we also need room for coats and PE bags.

PE Uniform - to be worn on class PE days    

• A plain round-neck T-shirt (with or without school logo) in your child’s house colour 

• Plain black shorts / Plain black long sports trousers 

• Trainers, sports socks 

• Milstead sweatshirt

   

All PE kits must be ‘non-designer’ wear.

All items of clothing and footwear MUST be clearly marked with the child’s full name.

Children should not come to school wearing make-up, nail varnish or jewellery.  Plain ear studs may be worn but need to be removed on PE and swimming days.  If children come to school wearing ear studs, for safety reasons they will be asked to remove them before PE/swimming.  Small watches and activity tracker watches eg Fitbits may be worn as long as they do not receive text messages, pictures etc or have a camera.  The school will not accept responsibility for any lost or damaged watches and jewellery. Phones are not allowed in school, but can be left with the school office for safekeeping during the school day. For safety reasons we ask that longer hair should be tied back using small plain hair bobbles or hairbands.
